Fed Statement Sends Commodities Lower

Concern that the Federal Reserve will refrain from addition monetary stimulus is sending commodity prices and related stocks lower on Wednesday. The Federal Reserve will intervene only if economic expansion slows, or prices rise at a slower rate than its two percent target.

Steel, aluminum, copper, and nickel prices are all lower. Among stocks, Russia’s Mechel (MTL), a producer of coal for steelmakers, is lower by about four percent, and United States Steel (X) is lower by about 3.6 percent.
